In the middle of the mess that was 2020, I was lucky enough to have a 'staycation' in Cornwall this summer and visited a socially distanced Tate St Ives. Whilst at the gallery I saw some inspirational art from some of the best of British talent including the fantastically abstract Azelea Garden by the Cornish-based artist Patrick Heron. I love the complex layering and frantic mark-making on this painting and have tried to replicate that by heavily speckling this yarn with a spectrum of colours.
This Peruvian yarn is a standard 4 Ply made from 100% Superwash Merino wool which is soft to touch and won't be itchy next to the skin. The fibres have been specially treated before being spun to enable it to be machine washable, therefore it will not ‘felt’ when washed, it is a great easy-care yarn - but please be gentle with your hand knits!
