This yarn is inspired by abstract expressionist Mark Rothko's Seagram Murals, which were commissioned for the Four Seasons Hotel in New York, but when he found out that they wouldn't be seen by the masses, Rothko instead donated the paintings to the TATE Modern where they have been on display ever since. Similar to Rothko's style of layering and creating rich colours, this colourway is deep in colour and made from several layers of dye to create deep tones similar to those seen in Rothko's paintings.
This yarn is the best of British, made using 100% British wool and spun in a British mill, keeping the carbon footprint ultra-low. This yarn is enhanced using 35% Bluefaced Leicester to give it a soft and luxurious touch, making it the perfect yarn to wear next to your skin. The wool is combined with a smaller percentage of nylon giving the knitted fabric extra durability and strength making it harder wearing and ideal for socks and garments. One reason I love using this yarn is that it takes the dye really well which is perfect when creating bright colourways like this one.
